This 22,007 square foot corner site is located within the West Side Avenue Redevelopment Plan, a short walking distance from the NJ Light Rail West Side Station. The mixed-use building design provides for 60 dwelling units, 53 parking spaces on two levels and retail space at the ground floor. The parcel is viewed by the City Planners as a key to the redevelopment of this neighborhood at the entry to the New Jersey City University. The fa├žade establishes two new street walls extending the urban context and scale via the use of varying planes of color, materials and shadows. The curved plane that wraps the corner penetrates the flanking masonry facades to create a dynamic form, recessed to provide increased depth at a shallow and irregular corner sidewalk. The building design and planning promotes the Redevelopment Plan goal of the establishment of an urban and cosmopolitan transit village.
