55-60 Myrtle Avenue, Ridgewood, NY
LLA was charged with the sensitive and bold transformation of this classic 1926 Cass Gilbert bank building into a Rite Aid. Architectural elements such as ornamental plaster ceilings and operable bronze window frames and doors were restored. Sprinklers were concealed within the attic and selectively inserted into the ornamentation. A system of trusses and cables was designed to support lighting and signage, resulting in the receipt of a 1999 Lumen Award in concert with our Lighting Consultant Ann Kale.
The interior and exterior design determinations were a result of LLA’s determination to be sensitive to the historic preservation of a beloved building in the community as well as the economic needs of our client.
